Long wait but well worth it!

We recently put in a very expensive ceramic roof on our house in Brookline and feel compelled to respond to this client report.  The crew that Skip Schiappa brought to the house was superb.  There was never any debris left after each day of work and the attention to detail was outstanding.  We do understand the frustration of the client who reported her issues with this company and agree that interacting in a combative way with the contractor is not the route to success.  Skip is very emotional and takes his work very seriously so that if differences arise he is apt to respond defensively via an email exchange.  Face to face he is very responsive and has wonderful ideas that go above and beyond what one can expect from a typical roofer. His work is excellent and he is committed to making things right in the end so both he and the client is happy with the job.  The only criticism that we have is in staging of the job as it took much longer than expected or estimated.  This was truly frustrating but if you are not in a rush and the quality of the job is the most important thing, than we certainly recommend this company for your job.

FLASH: The internet is a dangerous place!

Anyone and everyone can post comments about a business. As always, a business will appreciate positive feedback about their service. However, it can be detrimental to a business when a person decides to post negative feedback on the internet.

Could the negative feedback be true? Absolutely! Nobody is perfect, and, at times, there can be mix up or misunderstanding that can be blown completely out of proportion.

This is why RULES and REGULATIONS need to be changed regarding anonymous posting. Anonymous comments give people the courage to spout anything and everything. A person can trash a business purely out of spite with no repercussions as they are anonymous and no one knows who they are... fair, right?

What We Suggest:

Eliminate anonymous postings on business review websites:

• Yelp.com
• Yellow Pages (yp.com)
• Google Reviews
• Ripoffreport.com
• Scaminformer.com
• Yahoo.com
• MerchantCircle.com

These are just some websites... there are more, but you get the point!

We believe if you have a legitimate gripe against a business, you should have to attach the following to your comments:

1. FULL NAME
2. LOCATION
3. ADDITIONAL PROOF (documentation to back up negative claims)

It is only fair if our name is out there, yours should be, too! Why hide under an anonymous name when you have a legitimate gripe? Better yet, why take to the internet when you have the option to go to court?

We find it irresponsible to post anonymous comments as the source or sources could be false. If you have a legitimate case against a company, put your REAL NAME behind it. Better yet, file a complaint with the courts.

False Roofs

This building is over 200 hundred years old, a native pine boarded roof on framing that doesn't meet today's codes. It has an existing wooden roof and beautiful open beams beneath. The entire inside ceiling is cathedral. The chimney and flashings leak. The exterior trim is rotted along with the rafter tails.

PROBLEM: you the client, want to strip the roof and put a new wooden roof on. You want the roof or ceiling to meet the new energy codes. You want to insulate and ventilate the roof so you can use this historic room everyday of the year. You want all this and N0, ABSOLUTELY N0, CHANGE to the exterior and interior appearance... NO CHANGE, ZILCHO, CAN'T HAPPEN...
